What is  the ALABAMA COMBITUCK?

The newest method of performing an abdominoplasty. Another name for a lipoabdominoplasty in the surgical literature, the ALABAMA COMBITUCK was perfected by Dr. Schloemer over the past two years It combines full liposuction AND a skin excision with or without re-locating the belly button. Even small umbilical hernia's can be fixed at the same time.

The ALABAMA COMBITUCK requires NO general anesthetic, just mild sedation. LESS surgical risk of blood clots, infection, skin ulceration. NO drains. MINIMAL discomfort. Back to work in one weekend ( average is 4 days ). Tight skin. Rarely any permanent numbness. Cute belly button. Removal of an average of 5 pounds of fat and skin. (Sometimes up to 12 pounds.) Cost is less than the standard abdominoplasty by $500 to $2500. This a a REVOLUTIONARY NEW WAY OF DOING AN ABDOMINOPLASTY.

NEW RULES in Alabama require that all cases using tumescent lidocaine solutions have an anesthesia provider (CRNA or Anesthesiologist) present. This change may increase cost and cases may be performed at Troy Regional Medical Center for this reason. No General Anesthetics will be needed.

What is the difference between  the new  ALABAMA COMBITUCK  and a  old fashioned abdominoplasty?

OLD: With the old tummy tuck you are put under a general or spinal anesthetic for up to 5 hours. There is an increased risk of anesthetic complications, stasis blood clots, infection and even death,  with such anesthetics for so long a time.

NEW: With the ALABAMA COMBITUCK, sedation is used gauged to patient need. The tumescent anesthetic totally numbs the operated area, cuts down on bleeding and is an antibiotic in its own right. This effect lasts hours after the operation and many patients just use Tylenol after surgery.

OLD: Due to the extensive cutting and undermining of tissues from the pubis up to the rib margins, there is often permanent numbness, post-operative bleeding and increased pain which delays return to normal activity. Drains may be needed for 3-14 days.

NEW: With the COMBITUCK, there is NO severing of vessels and nerves and lymphatics. NO permanent numbness. Just fat is removed and then the excess skin. The often ugly belly button is repaired and may be relocated with the tuck. NO drains are needed.
